What is slang?

Slang is informal words and expressions that are not part of the speakers' standard language.

Slang words and expressions are sometimes insulting or vulgar, and are not always grammatically perfect.

They are often used by people to identify their membership of a particular social group and their use helps to keep groups together.

Slang often changes rapidly according to new trends or fashions.
