Phrasal Verb: stick with

To stick with something is to continue to do or use something as you had planned, without changing to something else

Examples of use:

1. I thought about buying a new truck, but I decided to stick with my old one.

2. He was offered a new job as an actor in California, but he stuck with his career as a singer in a band in the UK.

3. Mr Bassett doesn't like mobile phones. He'll stick with making phone calls from his house phone.

 

To stick with something is also to continue doing something even though it is difficult.

Examples of use.

1. Well done for sticking with your new diet, You look fantastic!

2. I stuck with my exercise regime and now I feel much healthier.

 

To stick with it is to carry on doing something that is difficult. Informal English.

Example of use:

Learning English can be difficult but if you stick with it you will soon improve your English skills.
